Do babies and children need to be kitted out in the latest designer trend? Is Harper Beckham really a cut above the rest in the style stakes, or is a pretty dress a pretty dress wherever it comes from? A survey by Lakeside shopping centre published in The Mail (link below) revealed that 94% of mums questioned spend more on their children’s clothes than their own and half feel guilty about spending money on themselves. Nearly half of mums shopped once a week to make sure their little ones kept up to date with the latest trends. Do you do this? Is it a TOWIE thing? Just a harmless bit of fun? Or the norm as this article seems to suggest? I wonder if I just don’t get it because I have boys! When I read that a quarter spend £400-600 a year per child on kids clothes I can’t help thinking they should have shopped at mum2mum market instead!!! We always have loads of great clothes at mum2mum markets, including designer and top end of the high street brands at amazing prices. Yes, they may be last year’s designs, but I actually prefer that as it is far more individual. You are far less likely to encounter 3 other tots at playgroup in the same GAP T shirt! And there might be a few more pennies in the purse for a guilt free treat for yourself too! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2181165/A-staggering-94-mothers-spend-child-s-wardrobe-nearly-half-feel-guilty-spending-money-clothes-themselves.html Two thirds of consumers want to buy preloved clothes.... so get selling!According to the Guardian Newspaper Brits have 30 Billion pounds of unused clothes in their wardrobes and I'm sure at least half of those must be kids clothes.
Ever bought something for your little ones in a bigger size and put it away and forgot all about it? Yep- me too! The good news is, according to the Guardian- 2/3 of consumers are willing to buy preloved clothes, and this tallies with our experience at mum2mum market........We know lots of parents who love a preloved bargain! So have a good sort out, book your stall and sell, sell, sell! We will give you all the advice and help you need to make the process of selling really easy ...... My advice would be not to rely on selling just clothes. In our experience, secondhand clothes sell very cheaply and to make a good profit yo need to shift a serious volume. Try to have a mixed stall, with some books, clothes and baby equipment too and you will maximise your profits! So, it came to my attention in the last few days that someone who runs similar sales in a different part of the country has been stealing my mum2mum market blog posts and passing them off as their own work! Irritating, to say the least. And illegal. Can you believe it? As an orgainser of nearly new sales themselves I would have expected that they would have their own thoughts on the best way to sell baby and children’s goods- but no, they had to steal my thoughts instead. They have of course added a few lines here and there- which stand out a mile as they are littered with spelling mistakes! There are a million myths about copyright from whether work on the internet is copyrighted at all (it is) and whether you need to use the copyright symbol to be protected (you don’t). So is there anything you can actually do about it? Absolutely. An initial contact Of course litigation is can be financially costly, so it helps enormously if you have a copyright lawyer for a husband :-) So for anyone reading this blog post with the intention of stealing it….. please don’t. If you would like to share it,giving mum2mum market the credit for writing it, and a link to our website, go ahead…. But please don’t pass my work off as my own. Rant over and I will leave the Legal Eagles to do their stuff! |
